gmk is Gareth Kneller, a multimedia designer who until recently was based in London, UK but now based in Brisbane, Australia. After moving to London in 1997 Gareth worked as a successful freelance web designer with such clients as The Royal Berkshire Polo Club, asianflava.co.uk (Asian music website), Take Control - Business Training Company, Uxoomi - Video on Demand (part of the BT ASDL trial), Nine Below Zero (band), Guy Kremer (Hairdresser) and Bobs Hair Company (Hairdresser). Gareth joined Brian Morrison Music's new internet venture in 1999, working with the latest web and audio/visual streaming technology culminating in a live internet broadcast of the Millennium celebrations from the Pyramids in Egypt. Gareth joined the Brand Design Consultancy Springpoint as Multimedia Manager in 2000 and brought with him his significant experience as a website designer and programmer to their multimedia team. While at Springpoint, Gareth worked extensively on Springpoint's own website, Springpoint's new media site and client extranet, as well as web promotions, tracking and maintenance of Springpoint's server and Mac and PC IT support for the London office. Gareth created and implemented websites for Siliconwharf, Kone, National Grid, Celerant and Pineappleheads. His team developed Unilever's "Gusto" intranet and developed their guidelines extranet. He has developed screensavers for Unilever, Celerant and Grants Whisky and CD and web multimedia presentations for Saudi Telecom and Vodafone amongst other clients. Gareth also worked on digital logo animations for Springpoint's major clients, including Saudi Telecom, Vizzavi, Vodafone and Unilever. Since leaving Springpoint, Gareth has began working once more as a Freelance multimedia designer and programmer, current clients include various London based design consultancies - Acanchi, Harriman Steel, Julia Alldridge Associates and Brand ink. Gareth has also teamed up with Strategy Consultants "Future Strategy" ran by Paula Gair. Future Strategy & gmk are currently working on a number of projects in the Not for Profit Sector. Gareth, in addition to running his own business is lead multimedia designer for Jacaranda, the Education division of John Wiley Publishers Australia. Recent projects include designing & programming the interface for a Higher Education Psychology CDRom for John Wiley, a browser based educational CDRom for the Brisbane School of Distance Education and identity design for a Queensland based Harley Davidson trike tour company.
